First-time college applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Apply for admission to a degree program and be selected for consideration by the
         Admissions Office.
  • Be a New York State resident.
  • Hold a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), Armed Forces
         Equivalency Diploma, etc.
  • If selected, attend an information session.
  • Meet income eligibility guidelines based on household income.

The applicant will automatically meet economic eligibility if :

  • The student is living with foster parents who do not provide support for college, and no
         monies are provided by the natural parents, or;
  • The student is a ward of the state or county.

Documentation will be required.


In order to receive financial aid, a student must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
